HARD GRAFT AND CONSISTENCY REAP REWARDS!

Time flies when you’re having fun, which has proved to be the case in 2024 too – can you believe it’s almost Easter! Some amazing golf has been played around the world, but even more importantly, right here at home too.

The Africa Amateur Championship was certainly a highlight, with the women’s and men’s events producing fantastic golf. This not only underlined the healthy situation of South African amateur golf but also saw the game steadily improving across the continent. Undoubtedly, the input of GolfRSA, all the initiatives and the continued support of amateur golf is reaping evident rewards.

Not enough can be said about all the local coaches and club professionals who dedicate their lives to improving golf across a diverse range of skills, from beginners to top amateurs and even pros. We highlight some of SA’s top golf academies and foundations that do incredible work in future-proofing the game and growing the sport throughout diverse communities in the country.

For TGM’s cover story, Michael Vlismas caught up with Zander Lombard, and we find out what makes “Mr Consistency” tick. Jordan Burnand, who certainly appears to be in winning form, is featured in the GolfRSA Squad Watch. Danielle du Toit is our Rising Star this month. She shares her journey to date and offers insight into her road to the professional ranks, which hasn’t always been easy or conventional, but is a learning curve that proves there are different paths to follow, which all require doing the hard yards.

There’s also instruction and more great features, and don’t forget to enter our monthly competition. TGM is still so new and the path is not always easy, but as with most successful golfers, we have our heads down and are grafting hard.

I hope you enjoy this issue and we really appreciate and invite
your input, comments and suggestions, so don’t be a stranger.

See you on the fairways!
